United States 60th Presidential Inauguration

January 20, 2025

On Monday, January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

President Donald Trump released his first list of priorities which includes four main pillars – Make America Safe Again, Make America Affordable and Energy Dominate Again, Drain the Swamp, and Bring Back American Values.

Make America Safe Again

President Trump plans to focus on border security and community safety by reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy originally established in 2019 during President Trump’s first term in office. The plan also includes building the wall between Mexico and the United States, ending asylum for illegal border crossers, cracking down on criminal sanctuaries, and enhancing vetting and screening of aliens. Part of this plan includes deploying the National Guard to the border to assist law enforcement and prevent illegal border crossers.

President Trump will suspend refugee resettlement and will begin the process of designating cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. President Trump will use the Alien Enemies Act to remove the cartels.

The Department of Justice will seek the death penalty for heinous crimes against humanity, which include the killing of law enforcement officers and illegal migrants maiming and murdering Americans.

Make America Affordable and Energy Dominate Again

President Trump plans to end the previous administration’s climate policies, streamline permitting, and review regulations that burden energy production and use. These energy actions aim to provide consumers with choices in vehicles, showerheads, toilets, washing machines, lightbulbs, and dishwashers. President Trump will declare an energy emergency and use all necessary resources to build critical infrastructure. Trump’s energy policies will also end leasing to wind farms.

President Trump will announce the America First Trade Policy and his plans to make changes to national tax policy. All government agencies will also take emergency measures to reduce the cost of living for Americans.

Drain the Swamp

President Trump plans to freeze hiring within the bureaucracy except in essential areas. He also plans to increase the accountability of the government bureaucracy and intends to increase the number of government employees who work in the office. President Trump will pause regulations that were announced by the previous administration but have not come into effect yet.

President Trump is taking action to ensure all government documents are retained as required by law and ending unconstitutional censorship by the federal government.

The State Department will be directed to have an America-First foreign policy.

Bring Back American Values

President Trump has pledged to establish male and female as biological reality and protect women from gender ideology. President Trump will also ensure that American landmarks are appropriately named to honour American history.

Other: Threat of Tariffs on Canada

Donald Trump has decided not to impose tariffs on Canada immediately. Instead, he will first direct federal agencies to investigate alleged unfair trade and currency practices by Canada, Mexico and China. This move provides Canada with temporary relief, but the threat of tariffs still looms.

He initially announced the 25% tariffs that may be imposed on all goods from Canada and Mexico as a way to pressure the two countries to address their weak border security and drug trafficking that is impacting the U.S.

EXECUTIVE ORDERS

Declare National Emergency at the Southern Border – This order allows for the deployment of military forces and the National Guard to assist with border security, aiming to finish the border wall and address immigration issues.

Memorandum on Inflation – An executive action aimed at addressing economic inflation through policy measures has been proposed. While the specific details of these measures are not fully available, it highlights the need for a comprehensive government approach to reduce prices for consumers.

Declare National Energy Emergency – Aimed at cutting red tape and regulations for the energy industry, particularly to boost domestic oil and gas production.

Fill Strategic Reserves Again, Export American Energy – Policies to enhance the U.S. strategic energy reserves and promote the export of American energy.

Designate Criminals Cartels as Terrorists – This designation allows for a broader range of actions, including freezing or seizing assets and imposing stiffer criminal penalties.

Suspend Refugee Resettlement for at Least Four Months – A temporary halt on refugee resettlement programs.

End Electric Vehicle Mandates – Actions to reverse policies aimed at encouraging electric vehicle sales, including tax credits and subsidies.

Recognize Two Biologically Distinct Sexes – An executive action defining male and female as the only two biological sexes, impacting government documents and policies related to gender.

End 'Catch and Release', Continue Building the Wall, and End 'Remain in Mexico' Policy - Immigration policies to enhance border control measures.

Gulf of America — Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America”. This move is part of a broader set of executive actions aimed at emphasizing American sovereignty and identity.
