Ottawa, ON – Wellington Dupont Public Affairs is pleased to welcome Laura Pennell as a Senior Advisor. Before joining WD, Laura spent six years advising key decision makers and cabinet ministers in the Canadian Liberal government.
Originally from British Columbia, Laura has used her in-depth knowledge of Western Canada to provide strategic advice, drive projects, and manage issues in various economic and social portfolios across government.
Most recently, as the Senior Advisor of Strategy and Operations to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland, Laura played a key role in the development and deployment of Canada's 2021 Budget. She leveraged her close intergovernmental relationships to help secure Canada’s inaugural child care deal and manage complex jurisdictional issues throughout the pandemic.
Laura also has a wealth of campaign experience, both at local and national levels.
From her experience, Laura brings a talent for analyzing policy, building and maintaining strong relationships, and a keen political eye to the team at WD.
